I have money in a paypal account, but never spent it. I am trying to buy something from lululemon, and want to use the money in my paypal account. I got this message:
For security purposes, please link a credit card to your PayPal account to confirm your address. We won’t charge your card unless your PayPal account doesn’t have enough money to cover the payment.
This sounds a little fishy to me. I have more than enough in my paypal account, and all addresses match. Is this safe? Thanks.

Totally safe. And if you link your credit or debit card, then you don’t have to worry about keeping a certain amount in your pay pal account-the two will be linked.

Did you register a credit card or bank account with your PayPal account when you first signed up? My PayPal account is linked to my checking account and debit card as a backup payment source. I don’t recall ever getting that message but maybe it’s because I’ve had everything linked from the get go.
To answer your question though, PayPal is very safe and secure. That’s basically what they pride themselves on.

I have used it a ton of times, no problems!

I’ve had an account for about 11 years and never had a problem with it.

I use paypal all the time and have never had a problem. I’ve had my credit card and bank account linked for about 2 years and it’s been great for purchases. I recently sold some items on Ebay and received the money through paypal also and the transactions were fine.

I have been using Paypal for years and have never had a problem with it. I’ve had more problems with my bank accounts and big banks.

I’m confident that it’s safe. I don’t keep a balance in my account on there, but use my linked credit card.

I had someone use my credit card in PayPal once to send money to different individuals. PayPal caught it before I did and shut my account down. The charges were reversed quickly.

I have been scammed via paypal and EBay. Both of the companies resolved the issue with the least help from myself. My account was flagged after being tampered with (EBay side) then I checked my bank account and thousands had been taken- funny enough, I didn’t have “thousands” so it was all overdrafted. Then I called my bank to stop everything from paypal. The bank did. Then paypal got in touch saying my account was tampered with… Then after a few days of investigation all monies were returned and I barley had to do anything.
After that debacle, I have absolute trust in both ebay and paypal and continue to use them often to this day.

I think it’s safe. Sometimes I use it for regular online purchases because of the extra protection it offers regarding whatever you order.
