Just a few friends, the bridal party…AND the Groom. Not superstitious, and he’ll forget what it looks like befre the day of.

Mine is being custom made. I don’t have any actual pictures of the dress… only the inspiration photo. I show it to anybody who asks! (Including FI!)

I’ve shown the picture of the dress from the website, and me in it before it was altered to my BMs + Future Mother-In-Law, you guys, and a few coworkers (not invited). The final product is going to be a surprise!

I didn’t take any pictures at the final fitting so I wasn’t tempted to send it to anyone.

Everyone and anyone. I never understood people who keep it a secret. My Fiance accidentally saw a photo of the dress very briefly once but neither of us would be that concerned if he actually got a good look. I don’t think seeing it now will take anything away from the ceremony, especially with hair, makeup, jewellery and the overal magnitude of the event.

I have bought two dresses now. The first one was a sample gown that was too small but I loved the price of $600. I showed it to everyone except the groom. Everyone who asked, all of my family, and all of my friends and even random people. Now, the second dress was my dream dress from the very beginning and I couldn’t find it anywhere. I ended up finding it 100miles from my house and went and bought it! I absolutely love it and I’m keeping it a secret from everyone besides my mom and maid of honor. I feel like since I showed everyone the other dress it lost is specialness (lol) and now no one is going to expect to see me walk out in a completely different dress and I am even more excited about it!!

My mum and my sister were with me when I bought the dress, so they’ve seen it in person. My step mother, father, youngest sister, Brother-In-Law, Future Mother-In-Law and FSILs have seen photos of me in the dress (my step mother and youngest sister are coming with me to pick it up in a few weeks so will also have seen it in person). A coworker has seen the stock photos of the dress (she recommended the store to me and asked if I could show her the dress I picked, I didn’t mind).

One of my bridesmaids, my best friend, hasn’t seen the dress yet and probably won’t until the day of the wedding. No one else has really asked, although there are some people that I would definitely show it to if asked (such as my grandmother).

Any attempts to keep my dress hidden from the groom went out the window – due to a *fabulous* mess of events early this year, my lovely home got infested.  Be careful when you travel, folks!  Check all hotel mattresses for bedbugs before you settle in!  I got my dress from an antique shop and sent it off to be pressed while this was happening, so it missed all the fun, but since bedbugs take months to clear out before you’re safe, when we picked it up from the cleaners, we figured the safest route would be to keep it at his place.  No chances!  The only one I want in my dress is me, not me and a few hundred special new friends.

He hasn’t seen me in it, well, not unless he looks at this website, but safety trumps romance in my book, and so yes, he has seen it.  And sees it every time he opens his closet.  (Bug free for three months now, by the way – had to invest in one of those heater zappers to treat every other textile in my house.  Happily, we didn’t end up with a full infestation, just a few, and we could kill them as they hatched so they didn’t spread much, but still, it was two months of horror.  Just – check your hotel mattresses.  Do it.)

Otherwise, one of my bridesmaids and my mother has seen it because I refused to buy the first dress I tried on without some moral support.  I really wanted to take it home, but was deeply concerned that I was being too rash.  Needed a second and third opinion.  Once that was done, it was to the cleaners, then to the closet, where it awaits the big day!  Well, and for me to figure out which level of fluffiness I need in a petticoat for a dress from the 1940s.  I love life.

I’m in a bit of a different situation then most of y’all. 🙂 I’m making my dress, so my Fiance and I agreed that he could see the fabric and stuffs, but never actually see it on me. It’s a bit tricky to spend time with him and sew a dress that will take 100+ hours. 🙂

Oh I did such a bad job keeping it secret, but I had extenuating circumstances. I actually bought my wedding dress when I was engaged to someone else. I ended things before the dress even came in and by the time it had, I was dating now DH. The dress shop was three hours away from where I was living and DH offered to drive with me to pick it up. So I let him! He saw me in the dress while we were a brand new couple! I loved the dress, spent a minor fortune on it, and could never imagine myself in a different dress even at a different wedding, so I wore it when I married DH.

I showed anyone who asked. My dad, bless his sweet heart, showed everyone regardless of asking. I had surgery once and my dad was so excited I swear every nurse and doctor on the surgical floor had seen my dress, all before I had even been given anesthesia! I didn’t care at all.
