I am only planning to have two bridesmaids with similar enough body shapes that I’m probably going to have them get the same dress. I just can’t decide what kind! How should their dress look compared to mine? Some key questions are:
Same or different material? I have lace & tulle – should my bridesmaids have lace, tulle, both, or none?
Similar or slightly different sleeves? I have straps. Would straps or short sleeves look better for them?
Similar or different neck? I have a V-neck. Would it look better if they were in V, crew, halter, ??

In my opinion, they should have something a little different from your dress! Especially material wise. If you’re in lace, I definitely wouldn’t put them in it.

Hi! My dress is v-neck. Top is lace and bottom is organza and I chose long strapless chiffon dress for my bridesmaids. I don’t know if what I chose is correct or not but I thought it would look good! Do you have any pics of your dress and bridesmaid dresses that you are considering?

I personally prefer them to be slightly similar. My daughter is my Maid/Matron of Honor and only bridesmaid, so I opted for a dress that’s made as the same material as mine, minus the lace. Instead of a sweetheart, strapless top, i chose something more age appropriate.
My dress with the lace jacket over. Underneath, the bodice is a sweetheart strapless with a criss-cross design.
This is the Maid/Matron of Honor dress I picked:

tarynk35: here is a picture of my dress, the Allure 2802. I haven’t the faintest idea what bridesmaid dresses would look good with it – any suggestions would be great.

midnightjasmine: I’d either put them in a short chiffon dress or short lace one in a different color. I think the only rule you’ll want to follow with their dresses is that it fits the same overall idea. Your dress is soft and romantic and on the simpler side, so their dresses should be too. I don’t think it matters in the slightest what their neckline or straps look like. Have you asked your girls what they would like to wear?

larissakay: My friends are awesome and say they’ll wear whatever I choose. But I think you hit the nail on the head saying that they should be on the simpler, soft side. I kept thinking lace or sequins but nixing every dress I saw because it “just didn’t fit.” I could never put my finger on why the dresses didn’t fit, and I think it’s because they weren’t simple. Thanks!

I think a simple dress with a little bit of lace on it will do. Both weddings I was in this year, the brides had lace dresses so all of the bridesmaids had lace in their dress somewhere as well. It just kept the overall theme going. Since you’re dress is more simple, I think that I would do a short dress with a little bit of lace at the top to compliment your lace in whatever your colors are. So something like this :

Bridesmaids dresses should compliment your wedding dress. My dress was gold, lace, 3/4 length sleeves, tea length. Therefore, long bridesmaids dresses were out. I opted for neutrals and pinks because they looked great with my dress. I was very relaxed with my girls, so I had very many necklines, fabrics, colors, etc. and it all turned out fine.

I did mixed styles for my bridesmaids but I had a very similar style neckline to yours. I went for a completely different fabric for them.
