We were friends before dating for about a year, then dated for just over 3 years before getting engaged. It was a great amount of time!

9 months, but we’re older than average for a first (and hopefully only!) marriage.

18 month engagement and we’ve been married just over 3 weeks so far.

14 months! I definitely never thought I would get engaged that quickly and probably wouldn’t objectvely recommend it, but it felt right. (we were also 29 & 30 and settled in our careers etc.)

lemondropfairy :  8 years. We met when we were 19 whilst still at university. We waited until both of us was ready felt we were mature enough as adults to make such a big commitment. We never doubted the relationship, we just doubted ourselves. After about 5 years, we knew we wanted to be together for the rest of our lives but couldn’t justify the need to be engaged. In fact the ONLY reason we got engaged was because of religious reasons. It wasn’t to have a big party, or to please our parents or because we were afraid of what other people would think. HE proposed because I WANTED to and I WANTED to get married only for religious reasons. There was no other justification that was strong enough to cause trouble in my relationship.

3 months but we have been friends for 12 years. I know people think that is too quick, but we are happily in love and we work through anything we disagree on.
