9 years! I was 18, just graduated high school and moved halfway across the country to help my dad after surgery. 2 weeks after moving, I met him at our work and we immediately started dating and moved in together right away after just 3 dates lol. He was 23 just about to turn 24. Now, we have an almost 6 year old son and are finally getting married in just 23 days, just 10 days shy of our 10 year anniversary! Believe me, if it had been up to me, we would have been married years ago.

14 months here too! Like you, I generally would advise people to wait at least 2 years before getting engaged; that was my personal rule for myself, and I never thought I would break it! But we were 28 and 30, knew what we wanted out of a relationship, and knew we were on the same page. I felt I had sufficient information to commit to him with confidence, and didn’t think extra time was necessary. (It also helps that we were friends for a couple years before we started dating, so we already knew a bit about each others’ personalities.) In short, it felt right. 🙂
We also had a longer engagement (20 months), so that has helped ease any doubts I had about not being together long enough.

Started dating at 17 nearly 18, engaged at 25 nearly 26, married at just turned 29
So dated 8 years before getting engaged.
Engaged just over 3 years before getting married.
Now been married nearly 3 years.
I got a bit annoyed waiting for some of the time but we were LDR for 3 years when I had to work away and then we wanted to buy a house and live together for a while before getting married, which we were able to do once we were both in the same city again. It all worked out, my career wouldn’t be what it is now if we’d married earlier and I hadn’t moved away. It was also important to me to live together before getting married.
