I’m curious about this, too. Never had kids and actually just got off the phone with my doctor’s office about Mirena (also about the new one – Skyla – check my started threads to see more about it, or Google it! It becomes available Feb. 11)

I’m curious too… I just had mine removed last week and we will now TTC.  According to my dr and online research you can get preggo within the first month after removal.

I got pregnant 6 months after having the Mirena. I ovulated and had a normal period the month after I got it out, so I probably could’ve been pregnant much sooner, but we had a range of other issues that got in our way.

I got mine out in late June, started trying in September and got pregnant in October. I had positive OPKs and regular periods right from when I got it out, but my periods were really light until the period before I got pregnant which was regular. I don’t think that my body could have sustained a pregnancy until that period in September.  I  was really freaked out about my fertility because there’s all these horror stories about pregnancy issues post Mirena, but it was not a big challenge for me!

i currently have one and my doctor said that you are able to get pregnant ASAP once it’s removed, that there are no barriers to pregnancy right away.

@peonyinlove:  +1

At work, so can’t remember where I read that but I think a major medical site (like Mayo clinic) said the same thing.  IUD and Implants have no long term effect and you can TTC right away, unlike the pill.

Here’s another thread w/ some answers; many of them got BFP on their next cycle http://www.babycenter.com/400_how-long-after-getting-an-iud-removed-can-i-try-to-conceive_915216_491.bc

I got mine out the end of July and got pregnant in the beginning of September. So 2nd month. I was also 36 at the time.  I did end up having a MC at 6 weeks. I doubt though it had anything to do with the Mirena. Good luck.

Update from me.  I had my IUD removed late January, first period was mid February, TTC March, BFP today.  So one cycle or two months after having IUD removed for me
