Okay so I have been on the pill for about 2 yrs. DH an I would like to ttc. However, I am hoping to get pregnant by October or later but I would like to have regular cycles before than. I stopped my last pack of pills this month. How soon did you get pregnant? I know it varries from woman to woman and that you may get pregnant right away or a few months later.

@June232012: I was on Nuvaring for years, and basically on hormones since age 10 for cysts, for a total of 11 years… I got off in January, I got pregnant in March but lost it, and now I’m still TTC

I was on thepill for 11 years and it took me 9 months to get pregnant. I also had very irregular long periods after stopping it as well, which made it a little challenging.

I was on the pill for 2 years. I asked my husband on January 10 )5 days before our wedding) if he wanted me to start my new pack ofpills or stop taking them, so we could start trying to get pregnant. He said stop taking them. Ovulation clearly happened as expected during our honeymoon because we found out we were pregnant on February 4. We’ll welcome our daughter to the world in 7 weeks.

Your poll didn’t have my option so I picked 1 month after stopping. I was on BC for 9 years, had 1 full cycle off the pill without getting pregnant, and then got pregnant the following cycle (so 1-2 months). We were timing BD though. I’d imagine it might take longer if you don’t track your ovulation through OPKs and/or temping.

I got off it in December and got KU in late June. I am fairly certain that I didn’t have regular enough cycles to even be able to get KU for 4-5 cycles. I think my body just took extra long to get back to normal. But the 2nd time around of what I was fairly certain was a “normal” cycle, I got my BFP. (my doc recommended getting off the pill 3 months before first trying, for what it’s worth).
On the other end of the spectrum is my friend who stopped taking her pill for a week around her wedding (I forget her exact rationale, but it was something about timing her period or soemthing). She got KU’ed immediately.
Bottom line – there is no way to know which one you are going to be. If you aren’t ready to start TTC, be sure to use an alternative method, or you might get a little surprise! But also don’t be discouraged (as I was at first) if it doesn’t work right away or if your cycles seem strange. Just give it time!
What I’m curious about, is whether post-baby I will go back on the pill, or whether I will try to convince DH to use other methods from here on out. Coming off of those hormones was nuts.

I was only on the pill for like a year and a half. I got off in July of last year and found out that I was 4 weeks pregnant in July, so almost a year. We weren’t charting or trying to make a baby, per say. We just weren’t preventing it.

You don’t have an over 12 months option. It took us 19 months (and IVF). Fun.

One month after stopping the pill we were pregnant. We were both (happily) surprised by how quickly it happened. I had been on the pill for 3 years.

i might skew your results, but i went off BCP to see what my cycles were like. they got progressively longer, but we were avoiding and I was charting. i got pregnant the 1st cycle that we tried to conceive and it was ONLY because i was charting!

My doctor told me from the get-go it would be 6m before I could get pregnant off of my B/C. So, I tried for 6 months anyways of course, but didn’t get pregnant until the 7th month exactly. I wasn’t regular those whole 6 months either.
I was on the depo shot which is given every 3 months and didn’t allow me to have a period at all. I had been on that and other forms of b/c since I was like 17. So, at 23 (when I decided to TTC) it def took 6 months..
