dionsmom :  We set our date when we booked our venue 3-4 months after our engagement. We did have a longer engagement though (22 months from enegagement to wedding day).

About 2 weeks after we got engaged. I had the venue in mind already, so we just checked on available dates with them, and then confirmed that our VIPs would all be available.

We actually set the date before we got engaged lol.  We knew when we wanted to get married and the venue we wanted books minimum 18 months in advance!  So we went ahead and “set the date” by booking the venue that we did not want to miss out on.  If your area is popular I wouldn’t wait too long after the engagement to start looking.

We got engaged end of June and officially set our date in early August, when we booked our venue. We chose a season / time of year probably the night we got engaged. We knew thatwe wanted to get married the following Fall, and figured out we had a preference for a certain weekend shortly after for the sake of our wedding party. However, we couldn’t officially set it until we booked the venue, as Fall is the most popular time of year and quite a few venues were booked a year in a half in advance already.

We it engaged on Christmas Day 2015. We didn’t make any plans til March/April for our Oct 2016 wedding. So 4ish months. That being said, we knew it’d be that fall and a Sunday wedding.

We got engaged in April, went venue shopping in June. We picked our favourite venue and picked based on what they had available. So 2 months?

We decided on a tentative date the same evening we were engaged until we were able to make sure it wouldn’t conflict with anything else. We needed to keep in mind the wedding date chosen by my cousin which was happening earlier in the summer so that we wouldn’t overlap and cause too much trouble for her or for our family who would want to travel for both. We chose the latest possible Saturday that would allow us to take a honeymoon before having to go back to work and it all worked out! Thankfully, we didn’t have to worry about a venue booking up because we were married at my parents’ farm!

9 months after we got engaged. Our engagement was 26 months altogether so we weren’t in any rush.

within a few weeks. our date was very dependent upon when our loved ones could travel and be with us (my family lives all over the country), so as soon as they figured out what worked best for them – we set it.

We got engaged on Black Friday of this year and just set our date last week after we decided on a venue!
