We had a tentative date set before becoming officially engaged, but nothing will be official until we book our venue in June, so 7-8 months into our engagement. But we’re having a 2.5 year engagement, so we have the time to push it off a bit.

About a month after he proposed we had put a deposit on a venue, we had an 18 month engagement

I always wanted to get married on our anniversary, so when he proposed on ours last year, I knew we had to pick a venue with that date. We officially set it two months later in August.

For us, the date is up in the air until we place a deposit on a venue. Been engaged for about a month now.

dionsmom :  We picked a date about 3-4 months after getting engaged. We planned on a 2 year engagement. Then we had some close family members get sick and ended up moving up the date by a year. So I went from 2 years to 8 months to plan. It all worked out though, and it was a good thing we moved it up because there would have been 2 very important people who wouldn’t have made our original date.

About 1.5 months after engagement, but out entire engagement will be 20 months by wedding day.

cjm18 :  We did this as well, though for us it’s our photographer that I knew we 100% wanted. We booked and paid deposits on him and our ceremony site. We wanted to make sure that those we’re locked in. We’re still in the design process of my ring.

Unofficially, before we were even engaged I had a date in mind which was our 5 year anniversary of dating. I love fall weather and fall colors, and our anniversary was early October so it was a perfect idea. I dropped subtle hints to him before he proposed, sort of joking and sort of serious saying well, our 5 year anniversary just so happens to be on a Saturday….

Once he did propose in enough time for that wedding date, we knew that was what we wanted. Didn’t announce the date publicly until we found a venue within the next month and locked it down. Got engaged on Thanksgiving weekend, booked the venue in December, and announced the date before the end of the year!

We set our date a little more than 6 months after being engaged, it was once we picked our venue.

Within a week haha.

We got engaged in November and knew we wanted to get married in the summer (and where) so we just chose the very last week of the summer that we could so that we’d still have some time to plan.

A few months. We moved shortly after our engagement and had to buy so much stuff for our first house and had so much to set up, we didn’t want to start venue searching or putting down deposits at the time.
