Well I’m getting married May 12 and we booked our engagement session for April 21st. That’s over a year to go. My reason was that I want to play around with the pitcures make a photo guestbook and invites all with my pics and I’d like to have tons of time to do that.

I scheduled ours for a year out also, for the same reason. I love sites where you can make your own photobooks, crafts etc., and wanted to have time to do things like that. Many of those sites also have coupons for free books, free prints etc., so with more time, I can wait on the best deals and create some really cool stuff we can use at the wedding (or in our future home) 🙂

That was the first thing we did-well, after the dress, of course :)- and I really don’t think with epics, there’s any certain time you should do them. Give yourself time to have them done and get the photos back.

My personal suggestion is to not do them anywhere near the wedding date, unless you just have a short engagement, because the last few months are hectic and that’s one less thing you won’t have to worry about. Also, if you want to use them for the wesite, Save-The-Date Cards, announcements, guest book, etc, you want to have them done and ready to be utilized.

The epics were a fun part of the planning and our own personal way to celebrate being engaged. Think about the weather and time of year you want to have them done, your outfits, the location, YOUR SCHEDULE, and then go from there. Epics arent’ something to stress about, they’re the fun part, so just have fun with it and do them whenever yall want!

We got engaged last June, just did some informal e-pics with a talented friend of ours a few weeks ago (about a year out from our wedding). We’ll also probably do ‘official e-pics’ with our photog this fall since I love those colors, and so Mr.ND and I can get comfortable with her style and her ideas before the big day. Our round with our friend was covered by pizza a beer, so we really didn’t add an additional cost and paying our wedding day photog won’t be too much.

I’m doing mine in two weeks.  I wanted to give myself enough time to get them back since I’ll most likely use one or more of the pics for our save the dates.

We are getting ours done late April, no real plans to use them other than have a few prints made and they came with our package. I think it is good that we are doing them under 6 months out because our photog won’t have worked with AS many people between our e-pics and wedding day.
