My wedding is in September and I bought my dress in October. The designer I chose has a 6 month turn around time, so I wanted to have plenty of time for alterations.

@accorn: I actually tried on dresses for the first time in November 2010 and we’re getting married in September 2011. I started early because I know myself and figured it would take a little while, and more than one visit to one dress store to make my decision.

As it turns out, it did. I ended up finding my dress at the 3rd store and probably the 40th dress I tried…lol I had found a few others that I really liked, but there was always one detail about it I didn’t like.

Go whenever you want! It’s a fun time, and you want to enjoy it, not stress about if your dress will be in on time, etc. I just ordered mine January 7th and it won’t be in until July.

Just have fun with it! :o)

(And don’t discount any dresses you “think” you don’t like on the hanger…they look SO much different on!)

I may be the wrong person to ask, but I had the dress 4 or 5 months before the proposal. It’s ok to go as soon as you want to.
