I plan to ask mine in June (which would be about 11 months in advance).

I was Maid/Matron of Honor in a wedding this past fall and the bride had to kindly kick out a slacker bridesmaid (who never should have been asked in the first place– I think it was more of a quantity over quality).

I’d rather hold off awhile and make sure I’m positive.  I bought the cricut “Bridal Shower” cartridge and it cuts out ring shaped boxes.  I plan to mail them those with a note asking them to be my bridesmaids.  I also plan to include a list of what this means.  I’ve been in two weddings and have seen when a few of the girls do all the work and I refuse to let that happen.

Our wedding will be in fall of 2014, but I’ve had the same best friends since junior high school, and asked my BM’s last week. They were actually asking why I waited so long, when I’ve only been engaged a little over a month.

I asked my Maid/Matron of Honor a couple weeks after we got engaged (about 15 months from the wedding date). She has been my best friend for years and was definitely not concerned about the status of our friendship once the weddind gets closer.

I also asked her so early because we already had plans to visit her and I wanted to ask her in person. I wanted about another month before asking my other BMs. I was concerned about asking them too early since we are having such a long engagement but I couldn’t resist! And honestly, it has made my friendship even stronger with all of them.

my best friend got engaged on christmas and asked me to be her Maid/Matron of Honor before new years so if you really want to do it in person then you should do it when she is in town. as long as you are sure you definitely want her to be in your wedding party then there is no reason to wait
