So we’ve picked out caterer, but i have cold feet about booking. I only have 6 to choose from and there’s a clear ‘winner’ to us but is it too early to sign on the dotted line? Our wedding is in May.
What do you think bees?

As long as your date and venue are set in stone, go for it! Especially if you would be disappointed if they ended up being booked by someone else while you were waiting. Just remember to read all the fine print in the contract regarding changes, etc. I think we booked our caterer about 10 months in advance, but our venue only gave us two to choose from.

@MsGinkgo: I’d go for it! We booked our venue over a year in advance. Things book fast, especially if you’re in a larger city.

@MsGinkgo: We booked ours a year in advance, as soon as we paid the deposit on the venue. Food was the most important thing to us and I would have been pretty bummed if we couldn’t have our top choice caterer.

@nanilani04: @KC-2722: @remijp: Thanks. These guys are definitely my #1 choice. They have confirmed (in writing via email) that all items in the proposal can be changed and they have no minimum spend amounts or minimum number of people (except the final number we give them 10 days ahead).
I just get nervous booking anything, I’m a second guesser, I always doubt my choices. Our venue is booked and deposit paid, catering is definitely super important to us.

Definitely book now.
We started looking at about ten months out, and with all the run-around, lack of communication, and general dodginess we have encountered, I am very glad we did. If you find someone who can do what you want, for the price you want, and who actually cares about you and returns your calls, he is worth his weight in gold. Book him before someone else does!

I’m putting my check in the mail to book a caterer for my Sept. 1014 wedding today. I’d say go for it!

If your venues contracts are signed and your date is set then book ASAP or risk losing them to another bride.

We booked ours 11 months in advance, our second deposit after the venue. And if you’re this confident and have tried out 5 others, definitely go for it!
