I’m almost a year out on our wedding date and found an amazing dress online. It’s the first one I’ve really fallen for that has everything I want (straps, drapping, boning, etc) and I’m worried if I don’t buy it now it will sell out.
There’s free shipping both ways and a full return policy so I’m not concerned with disliking it. It would be painless enough to send back.
But is buying a dress 12 months before our wedding too soon? And would I need to buy a special bag to protect it from becoming discolored while hanging in the closet?
Thought’s from Bee’s who bought – and those who waited – appreciated!

I bought mine about 9 months out, but my friend bought hers 1 1/2 years before! I dont think you’d have to worry about it getting discolored if it’s kept in a bag. the only concern my friend had was she foolishly looked at other dresses online after buying her own and had remorse that she didn’t look around more. But if you’re sure you can return it at any time, then what’s stopping you? Go for it!

I bought mine 10 months early. So it has been in a bag at my Oma’s since November. I’d rather have something I love early then not buy it and wish I had and have to settle for something else. And if you can return it no problem I’d say get it!

I bought mine 14 months in advance. I found it and loved it so I had to buy it. If you love it then get it. I’ve looked at dresses since and I’ve seen plenty that are beautiful, but none have compared to my gown so no remorse yet. Also, if there is a return policy that allows you to return it whenever, then I say go for it. What do you have to loose?

I bought mine one week after deciding to get married (late feb and wedding is in end of nov). By all means if you love it buy it but don’t look at other dresses after wards 🙂
Hehe, it’s better to have your dress than lose it IMO.

I bought mine 2 weeks after i got engaged. I knew it was the one! and i have called around to see if i could have gotten a better deal had i waited, i can’t even find it! so i’m so glad i bought it when i did.

If I returned the dress, it would have to be within 30 days – enough time to see if I love it but not to have second thoughts 6 months down the line.
That said, if it’s half as gorgeous in person, I’m not too worried about dress-regret later on. I feel like I’ve looked at 100’s of dresses and even tried a dozen on – and have like none as much as this one. There was a PoB that came close (Maldives) at twice the price and I liked it less.

I just brought mine and we have 13 months before we get married. My dress will take about 6 months before I get it, so I won’t see it again until october. Ifyou love it get it!

Nope I bought mine a year and a half to go. I just knew so I knew.
However, you really should TRY ON similar styles first. I had an online love, and I got something quite different. Even IF it’s a good return policy I still suggest you go try on some dresses that are similar first.

I found and bought my dress in November of 2010 and I get married in March of 2012. So I was a good bit ahead, but it was my dream dress, it was discontinued, and I talked them into half price! I snatched it up right away, and I’m paying the dollar a month to keep it stored at the boutique so that it doesn’t get any marks or cooking smells from apartment neighbors, etc. I love having that done and out of the way already, and as someone else said, it’s better to buy it early than to miss the opportunity!
