One of my friends bought a crib before she was even pregnant! She said it was a good sale and couldn’t pass it up LOL

I personally waited until after I was out of my first trimester to start shopping or looking at anything. This is b/c when we went for our U/S at 7 weeks, there was a very weak heartbeat, and we ended up losing the baby a few weeks after that. So having baby furniture being delivered when I was going through a miscarriage would have crushed me.

We didn’t register or buy our baby furniture until after our 20 week ultrasound just to be sure.

I personally don’t think so. I’m 12 weeks today and i’m tempted to buy my stroller already 🙂 I think i will hold off on most things until we find out the sex though so i know what to buy. But things like breast pumps, cribs, strollers, diapers, diaper bags – can be bought while staying gender neutral – which i would want to do anyway in case we have other kids of the opposite sex.

I personally didn’t start buying anything for the baby until after the first trimester. My Darling Husband brought home a little infant hat with his University seal on it and I kind freaked out a little inside. I was only 8-9 weeks and didn’t want to jinx anything!

I never thought about it being too soon to buy baby furniture. I think if you aren’t pregnant that would be too soon, lol. Sorry MrsPom since your friend did that, LoL!

I bought our furniture when I was only like 9 weeks!  I did worry about miscarriage but we went  into a baby store and it was right after Christmas so there were great sales and just decided to go ahead.  If you have had an ultrasound and the heartbeat was strong and dates on track, riskoff M/C is lower (but of course still there).  It just depends how you think you would handle it in that situation.

My husband and I bought our crib, dresser, stroller and carseat before we were even pregnant! Some say it’s bad luck but either way we were going to have a baby no matter what happened. You know what? It was the BEST thing we could have done because I got laid off about a month ago and there is NO way we could have afforded to buy those things now!

Really though, it’s up to you. It’s nice to get it out of the way and not have to worry about it later on though, IMO 😉

We bought our cribs and car seats pretty early…around 10 weeks I think.  We found awesome sales as last years colors were being discontinued, and buying for twins, cost had to be a factor.  Anything big that we bought early, we made sure was from a place with a good return policy, so in case anything went wrong or if we just changed our minds, we could get our money back within a few months.
