Generally the pack and doctors will tell you to start it the first Saturday after your next (or current) period ends.

@HopefulSim:  I would start now. Helps you get used to remembering to take the pill, regulate your cycle (sometimes you might have spotting the first month or so). If you’ve never taken it before, it’ll also tell you if you can tolerate that type of contraception. Friends of mine have had reactions to birth control pills– migraines and the like– and so if for any reason it doesnt’ work for you, you’ll have time to try alternatives and also not feel terrible on your honeymoon!

Yeah, go ahead and start now. Get into the habit. It also may take a while for your body to get used to it – it’s common to have symptoms for the first few months.

I agree with PPs, start now!

As PP said – start now. It’ll help you determine when your period will start (i.e. how many days after the last active pill), and then time to shift things for your wedding

Excellent advice. It takes three months for the Pill to become truly effective and sometimes the symptoms take months to subside.

I started the pill about 2months before the wedding and it was fine

I am on the generic of Seasonele or whatever it’s called, it’s 1 period every 3 months. *evil grin* It just so happens I’ll be in the 2nd out of 3 months on my wedding/honeymoon. 🙂

Also, set an alarm on your phone, it totally helps. I have one that goes off every night and it’s really convenient if we go out to dinner or are totally involved in homework/a movie and don’t know what time it is.
