I knew that he bought the ring and took it to Paris with us, and on the proposal night, I heard the safe klicking while I was in the bathroom – so no surprise ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was so surprised! I’d hoped we’d be engaged by this summer and we had talked about it possible being in 2017. He ended up proposing in November ’16 and it was a lovely surprise! I cried a lot and it felt so surreal.

misty25 :  I was very surprised, but not because we hadn’t discussed it, rather it happened a little sooner than I anticipated. In retrospect, I should have suspected it. We talked about our timeline and what kind of ring I liked (this was in 2015), then shortly after he asked me if I’d want to go on vacation in the Caribbean. I didn’t connect the dots at all, because we were originally planning on getting married this summer or fall after I finished grad school, so I didn’t expect him to propose in the near future. But right after our timeline talk, he designed my ring, and a week before our trip he asked my family for their blessing (didn’t give them much time to blab!). He proposed on the beach after dinner and it was so romantic and sweet. We ended up getting married last April. So, our timeline definitely changed, but I’m so happy with all of the surprises along the way ๐Ÿ™‚

I was actually very surprised because I thought I knew the date he was going to propose. I accidentally saw a text that his dad had sent him (when it pops up on the home screen) and it said “what’s April 8th?” So I thought that meant he was proposing on our anniversary but it turned out that he was just engraving that date on my ring. He proposed 4 months before that so I was shocked lol

I definitely knew mine was coming, but it kind of happened a week before I expected.  I figured he was going to do it during the 4th of july fireworks, but when they got postponed due to weather, I expected the proposal to be postponed too.  Instead, my FH got creative and still had it happen the day he originally planned.

I had been expecting a proposal for around 6 months (little hints dropped by DH) but then his father unexpectedly passed away, so all of that was put on the backburner. Once everything had settled, I started to think that a proposal would be at least a year away to allow DH and his family time to grieve. 6 months later, I was taken completely by surprise when he proposed. I wasn’t expecting it at all and was completely speechless. He explained that he had actually been originally planning to propose a month or so after his father passed; he put it off initially but knew it wasn’t what his father would have wanted, so went through with his plan a few months later anyway.

I was surprised because he has been talking about proposing this summer coming up and he proposed July 2016!

He said I gave him a face that said “Yeah right you’re joking” until he pulled out the ring.

I wasn’t surprised – I knew all day. A few days before the proposal, he had a medical issue that prevented him from driving for awhile and the morning of the proposal he said ‘Can you drive us out to to the lake after work?’

It was February – so the lake was cold and unwelcoming. We had no reason to go out there except that some of our most special moments, including when we both realized we were falling in love, happened there.

misty25 :  I was SO surprised. He’d been acting a bit off and I had felt like a proposal was coming, but I kept telling myself I was crazy and there was no way he had a ring or was ready to get married so soon. I think I did know in the back of my mind though, as I was driving to pick him up from work (just before he proposed) and just had this image flash into my head of where he was going to propose…it was exactly there!

I guess maybe it was a mixture after all? I think it was more I was hoping he would than I actually thought he would ๐Ÿ™‚

I was completely surprised. We had been together for 12 years and while we always talked about “someday” I had gotten my feelings hurt one too many times expecting or hoping for it to happen. I had given up wondering if every nice vacation we took would be the time he would finally propose.

I decided a couple of months beforehand that I wanted us to take a vacation over Thanksgiving timeframe and found a great flight to Paris. I was so wrapped up in my plans and itinerary I had zero idea that he bought a ring and hid it from me. He told no one including his mother so she wouldn’t let the secret out. Nor did he tell one of his brothers who actually called the morning our flight was leaving and asked him if he planned to propose on this trip.

I was so surprised! I didn’t even know he bought a ring. We had previously talked about a timeline of summer 2017 but I guess he couldn’t wait ๐Ÿ™‚ We went to go watch the sunrise on the beach which we had done a few times before so I didn’t expect anything. We wanted to take pictures with the sunrise in the background, so he set up the “self-timer” (he really put it on video)… Still was clueless at this point and thought we were taking pictures… Then it happened! It was perfect! ๐Ÿ™‚
