I wish I had ring chub ๐
I wish I had ring chub ๐
Elizabear: my left ring finger is a 6 but had my engagment ring made to a 6.25. I immediately had two sizing beads sodered in, we knew we wanted children, and I know my body I shrink and swell like the tides lol the sizing beads were a mere $15 and can be removed and replaced easily with weight gain, so I figured I could wear my ERing during any pregnancy(s) if I got my ring a little large it would be better. It’s a 3/4 diamond infinity so not easily sized and it still spins a bit now but doesn’t slip off my hand, my wedding band is a size 7, both are 2mm bands.
I think your ring looks like it fits perfectly. Definitely doesn’t look too tight and I’m sure when you straighten your fingers this ‘ring hug’ isnt noticeable. I would say you don’t even have one in that photo.
It’s supposed to be tight enough that’s it’s not going to fall off easily but be loose enough to give extra space for finger swelling (like on hot days and stuff).
If I had to choose between the two though, I’d go with too small rather than too big and live with it being slightly too tight instead of having to constantly worry im going to lose it.
The ring should take 1 second to slide on and 3-4 seconds to wiggle off with it catching around the knuckle. That was the recommendation from a jeweler although I’m in the minority and prefer it a bit looser. I like spinning over ring claustrophobia.
Mine is 5.75…I could probably be in a size five october-may and a size 6 june-october. It spins a lot in the winter which I don’t love, but in the summer months it gets so tight I have a hard time taking it off so I left it as is.
I like my rings to fit kind of loose, I like them loose enough to spin slightly from side to side but not so loose that they spin completely around. My ring size is a 3.5 but my rings are sized to a 3.75 so I have extra room especially for the hot days when my fingers swell.
I usually size my rings about a half size larger than my actual ring size. I feel so claustrophobic if my rings are too tight. I know it’s crazy, but I feel like I’m suffocating or something. I can’t stand to wear them tight. On the flip side, I actually like for them to spin a little bit. I find it a lot more comfortable than that “too tight” feeling. And, for me, the exact right size even feels “too tight”.
Previously, this meant being a size 8 and having my rings sized to 8.5. I’ve lost weight, though, so I’m now around a size 7.5. The new band DH gave me for Christmas is an 8, which feels perfect to me. But my anniversary ring is starting to feel much too loose. It’s not so bad if I wear it with a band or even two. But, if I wear it alone, it feels dangerously loose. It’s about a whole size too big at this point. I told DH I need to go and get either sizing beads or a bar put in.
I love reading all the replies in this thread. I think it’s amazing how ring fit/comfort and sizing is such a very personal thing and how it can vary so much from person to person. Yet more evidence our rings are special!
I feel like I am being strangled if my ring is touching me. My finger is a 7.25. My rings are an 8.25. Its been this way since I got engaged at 19, and I haven’t lost anything yet, so I’m going with it.
I wear a size 9 (man hands) it’s a perfect fit but it still spins, but it won’t slide off. I don’t like out to lose. I retain water at times shoo them it can seem a tad bit tight. Otherwise it a perfect fit.
Ah, the ring fit! I have fingers where I get a ring hug, and others where I don’t. My ring finger has a much smaller base than the large knuckle. I have opted for a ring that fits super tightly over my knuckle (painful and annoying) and then fits loosely on my finger. The advantage is that it is impossible for my wedding rings to slip off.
and then I have fingers where the base is almost the same width as the knuckle so the ring is tighter and leaves an indent.
Generally, i like a looser fit on my finger, and I get used to the spinning and the painful fit over my knuckles ๐
I love the term ‘ring hug’! I was trying to explain finger muffin top to the male salesman at my ring store and he looked at me like I was crazy.
My fingers also swell and shrink like crazy from day to day. My ring was a 7.5 when I started in July, and now is a 6.5. Interested to see what happens when it is July again!
my ring fits perfectly, and even spins a bit (which i don’t mind) but i still get a ring hug look. if i take my ring off there is a mark where my ring normally sits (not because it’s too tight, because i wear it literally non stop) so i feel like i naturally get the ring hug look. i switch my ering to my right hand and dont have it.
