We did these for a bridal shower and I used a foam brick cut in half. I did most of the arranging outside of the cage. Then stuck some of the other pieces in after. I also glued it to the bottom so they didn’t get all tossed around and messy

I’d like to do the same thing – diy birdcage with real flowers, but I am concerned about the flowers dying half way through the reception. Do floral foam balls hold water? Is it better to somehow hide a vase in there?

Any step by step instructions would be helpful 🙂

I worked at a grocery store with a floral section and we used to soak the green foam bricks in water before doing an arrangement that wasn’t going to be in a vase and they held up for a long time. You could probably do it the night before and store in a refridgerator. Just be sure NOT to have any fruit in the fridge. The gases fruit gives off will wilt the flowers.
