Do all the kids have the same last name? If you want to keep them all one one envelope, I’d go:

Mom and Dad Last Name

Kid 1, Kid 2, & Kid 3 Last Name.

Heck, even if they have different last names, as long as they’re not super long, I’d throw all 3 on the second line so it looks neater and doesn’t take up the entire front of the envelope.

@MissTaken:  It’s not incorrect. In fact, you could use that; it’s entirely based on personal preference. I prefer to name exactly who is invited to avoid possible confusion, especially if all of the kids aren’t living at home

@msfahrenheit:  I agree.

However, I personally think that ‘The _____ Family’ works best for people with kids under 18, as that’s likely what I’d assume if one came to our house. Since 18+ usually get their own invite, I wouldn’t assume that they were included on the invite unless they were listed separatley or the RSVP card said ___of 5 attending and the full family had parent, parent, 2 adult kids, and a minor.

@MissTaken: I’m not sure on rank and military titles. Maybe try posting in the military board for that one.
