Our DJ brought a battery powered amp to our ceremony. He set the mic up at the podium and had the speakers off to the side where the wind direction was blowing from. It was a little breezy, but everyone could hear just fine. I think it’s very important to be amplified outdoors. I’ve been to 3 outdoor weddings now with no PA system and I have no idea what the vows were like.

We seriously only had a gentle breeze on our wedding day but all the video equipment sounded like we were in hurricane force winds. Without the PA, our video would have never heard us.

Our DJ was CRAP for the reception but his equipment was the main reason we hired him. He charged $700 for the ceremony and reception….from 3 pm-9 pm.

Hi- did the block rocker end up working out?  Am thinking of doing the same for my wedding … Did you have the officiant hold the mic?  How far away did you put the speaker?  Thank you!
