I desperately need some help. Right at the end of the school year in May, I was told by my boss:
“We’re not renewing your contract for next year. My legal department has advised me not to go into details about why. I will write you a letter of recommendation.” (That was the extend of the conversation. He was in and out of my classroom within a minute flat.)
You can read more about it here.
I’ve been advised from many family members, including my uncle who owns a business, that a letter right from my employer is what looks best to prospective employers. Being that the circumstances under which I was told of my non-recontracting were so hurtful (second to last day of school, I had been in all the meeting / schedules in preparation for next year, I was given no negative feedback whatsoever, I was totally blindsided), I can’t seem to find the right words for this email to him.
Can anyone help me write a formal request for the letter? Usually I have no problems whatsoever asking for this type of thing – I’ve had nothing but positive relationships with my bosses and coworkers since I began working in HS. I’m still just so hurt from this rejection that I don’t know where to begin.
