“A good wife knows her place.”  Oh, the veiled threat in that tone… barf.

I love:

“Be a little gay and a little more intersting for him. His day may need a lift…”

If this was now, we would think that this guide was condoning threesomes LOL.

@Aure: … and he wants them to play the part.  Play the part… as in, don’t be who you really are, or share your thoughts, feelings, personality, etc.

Is this what the OP in the thread the other day was using to prepare for her “wifely duties”?

I have a hard time fathoming that this was really how women were expected to act back  then.  But then again – maybe 50 years from now people will say the same about us!

ETA: “Remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.” Wow – Just wow!

So funny. This is the era of my grandma and apparently she was a HORRIBLE house-wife as she frequently reminded, in a totally loving manner, that he was NOT her boss but they were partners. She still has the voice when she says his name and he has been up to something…

@Mrs.KMM:  My mom still believes in this.  She told me if I didn’t clean the house better, Darling Husband was going to divorce me.  (He got a good laugh out of that)  But I do make sure he feel like his home is a haven, and he loves a hot meal ready!  But, he does the same for me.

Oh wow, I’m a little traditional when it comes to certain things, but that is just craziness.  I can’t believe that was actually published.  Could you imagine if that came out today?
