I’ve been full time with photography since 2008 and I’ve never gone to school for it. The first thing you need to do is figure out what you want to do with it and whether the particular type of photography is truly a viable source of income.  Photography as a career is 90% business and 10% art.  Your very best bet once you’ve figured out exactly what it is specfically you want to do with it is to to seek out other photographers in your area, and join their networking groups.  Interning, assisting, and/or second shooting is probably the best way to gain experience and figure out if it’s really for you.

@isabelle_86:   What sort of photography are you interested in?   Are you involved in the field at all now?  Do you belong to camera clubs/ exhibit your work?  Have your photographs been published in any magazines?   Do you already own professional grade lens(es) and body or bodies?   The answers will help us guide you….
