Anyone know what kind of routine works best to prepare for nice skin on your wedding? During the winter months I get dry skin and break out the most. My wedding is the first weekend in May and by then I should be starting to get oily skin (this always happens near summer-time). Year round I have slightly large pores on my cheeks and they look lightly flushed. My biggest issues are blackheads on the nose, those tiny little ‘breakout bumps’, and old breakout scars. I also tend to get breakouts on the cheek (this is usually once a month). I have never had the best skin no matter what I do but there have been times where it wasn’t horrible. Are there any ways to prepare ahead of time so that I can ensure a nice even surface with reduced scarring for my wedding day?

i’ve always had problems with my skin too, so i definitely know how you feel. i was so worried that i’d have a face full off pimples on my wedding day!
lay off sugary, starchy foods. they have a tendency to make acne worse.
maybe get a facial about a month before to purge your skin. definitely don’t do it the week of the wedding or you will be broken out.
do you use any type of medicine to treat your breakouts?
i use clindamycin (to prevent breakouts) and panoxyl (benzoyl peroxide medication) to fade the dark spots left behind. they’re both prescription, but i believe the panoxyl cleanser is available over the counter.
i also use a face wash with salicylic acid. i tried a non-medicated face wash for a while, thinking since i was using topical medications, i didn’t really need it, but i do need it!
i hope that helps!

@lilchicana: Thanks! I currently use Purpose cleanser because it is free of soaps and other harsh ingrediants. Everytime I used any type of ‘acne’ fighting wash or cream it made everything worse. My skin has gotten better since going to pure washes. The only cream to really help me is Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Treatment. My skin tends to be very sensitive so it reacts to everything. Hopefully my skin will be good for the wedding though.

@Saloria83: I have similar problems to you. Before my big day, I ate a good diet, drank lots of water and moisturised especially the dry bits

I like Purpose cleaner, it makes my skin feel great. Here are some tips that absolutely turned my skin around!
1. Diet. Eat lots of veggies and drink water. It will make a difference.
2. Retin-A. You can get it at the drugstore or you can get a prescription. This is the ONLY thing that has ever made my pores appear smaller and make blackheads on my nose disappear! It’s amazing. Make sure to follow all of the instructions though and wear sunblock every day.
3. Invest in a Clarisonic. I’ve never tried any of the cheaper face scrubbers, but the Clarisonic is totally worth the cost. Your face will feel smooth and it will glow. It also makes all your skin products work better.
