So my fiancé and I have started looking at venues and are planning to get married in fall 2020. I always pictured a barn wedding, so that has been our focus. We found two venues that we both love and are torn between.
The first one has a beautiful landscape, with a pond and a pretty house with rooms for us and a few others to stay in. The cocktail area is an old barn, there’s a large bridal suite with balconies, a separate grooms suite, small deck, and fire pit. The dance floor is a decent size, but the dinner area is more like a plain covered pavilion rather than a barn.
Second location is a massive barn with lots of lights and drapings, a large deck, small bridal room. It includes tons of decor items to use for the reception. The grounds are pretty plain, with a ceremony sight near a cornfield or a small arbor, and the barn is a lot farther away than first venue.
Both food & bar packages would be similarly priced, include a day of coordinator (the barn’s is more hands on), and include use of the venue Fri-Sun. We picture the ceremony so well at the first one, but the reception so well at the second. I had a “gut” feeling of the first one, but second guess it because I also loved the barn and thought that’s what I always wanted. Using one for ceremony one for reception isn’t an option, so how do we choose between the two?
