Both my e-ring (pave setting) and wedding band (plain) are platinum.  I use Connoisseurs Diamond Dazzle Stik to clean them and it works great.

I have a hundred year old platinum engagement ring.  I read in a bunch of different places that just lightly scrubbing it with a toothbrush dipped in a mild dishsoap solution works wonders and is perfectly safe for the ring.  Sure enough, super duper sparkly!

Agree. Don’t buy anything fancy. Just some dawn and a soft toothbrush. Platinum is a very soft but durable metal and will develope a patina overtime. I love platinum!!

I know I’m a few weeks late to this thread but I wanted to ask if the toothbrush trick gets your ring as shiny as a jeweler can make it?  I just had my ring cleaned at the jeweler and it is amazing how dingy it was before compared to the after.  I want to start cleaning it more often because it was embarrassing how dull the ring was beforehand!

I have a small ultrasonic cleaner and I add warm water and a little dish soap – my jewellery always comes up like new.

Most of my jewellery is white gold but my mum’s rings are platinum and hers come up beautifully in the ultrasonic.

@shadesofviolet:  Ok, I think I’ll buy one of those because I like to wear my ring at all times – which means it gets grungy fast.

@shadesofviolet:  Do you put in jewellery that has pave?

ETA: the ultrasonic – do you put pave jewellery in it? (I’m having a day lol)

I cleaned my ring with windex/warm water and it always worked well UNTIL I bought this product:

http://www.target.com/p/connoisseurs-delicate-jewelry-cleaner/-/A-14050727?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=%7C14050727&CPNG=Jewelry&kpid=14050727&LID=PA&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=14050727

It’s amazing!!! I bought one for my mom too since she saw how well it cleaned her diamond and wanted one herself- I LOVE IT.

This just made my night. I’ve read about stuff to use to clean rings but have just never done it. Just took out a toothbrush and scrubbed my ring clean and it’s SO pretty!! I’m always so enamored at the shinyness!

I use GemCare.  It here is a metal polish too, it works great.  And the products are natural. Even came with a brush and cloth.
