Do you need decorations? I got married in a church, and I didn’t use any at all and still heard lots of comments on how beautiful the ceremony space was. The only decor was the flowers me and my bridesmaids were holding! Lol. Outside wouldn’t need decor either.

If it really is dull then you could put bows on the end of the chair rows, like lining the aisle. Ribbon is cheap! Altar flowers, of you’re doing a unity thing that can serve as decor, you can make a cheap backdrop for the ceremony. Remember that you and your wedding party are going to be plenty beautiful to look at; don’t worry too much about decor!

What look are you going for?

One tip, which may help depending on your location or wedding season but…hydrangeas! Beautiful, fluffy flowers that look impressive and MANY people have in their yards (again, depending on where you live and when th wedding is). My mom asked around and we had sooo many people who offered to let us pick their hydrangea bushes for free for my wedding. Get some cheap vases (we bought a bunch of flower buckets at an end o f summer sale for like, $1 each) and line your aisles. Easy and gorgeous.

Another tip- Facebook yard sale groups. I got so much good decor that way for super cheap.

missmarchmommy :  we made flower balls (origami: kusudama balls) and hung them on plant hooks from the dollar store. I used a textbook for the paper and ended up buying a ream for 10 dollars of yellow paper for contrast. I also found a tutorial on pinterist for a diy gold chandelier using a hanging basket, Marti gras beads and floral wire that was spray painted gold. We got tons of compliments.

missmarchmommy :  also, downloadandprint.Com has giant paper flower templates. They look good in bright colors. We waited for a buy one get one sale at michaels to buy the paper. Party city and other stores do relatively affordable balloons too. It all depends on your style and your comfort level with diy. There is a super awesome tutorial on pinterist where people made pomenders by gluing plastic flowers from dollar tree onto whifflet balls. Dollar tree also has a wedding blog. It gave me hope for an affordable wedding.

get a 2 or 3 star master lights ($5 or less on ebay if you have time to buy the cheap ones from china and wait a few weeks for them to ship to you) for lighting. They’re AWESOME and so worth it.

What is your budget and do you have photos of your space or goals?

I rented table linens from our catering company but bought table runners from http://www.tradesy.com for $50 for 20 tables. That’s $2.5 a table… you can rent them for practically $8 a table. I need to clean them and I’ll try to resell for the same price cause it’s a great deal.

Sometimes with alters- less is more. Send us a photo of yours. We had pergola on our ceremony space and I hate when it had too many flowers/flowing fabric, etc. We rented a $50 or $75  chandelier from our flower company and that was it. Gave a super glam effect and I didn’t have to spend 2 hours decorating it. They just came and hung it up.

We bought mason jars and hob knob vases from Hobby Lobby when they were on 50% sale (HL rotates their sales every 2 weeks so plan your trips accordingly). You can plan to buy your candles in bulk on the alternating weeks too! Big financial help!

Biggest help was getting all “personal” flowers done by the florist for bridal party, moms, and groomsmen. All decorating flowers were bought in bulk from Publix (a really nice grocer in the souther east) with blue and white hydrangeas. I had the venue Friday before the wedding and had family members help cut up and set up the centerpieces the dya before. Bought enough to include in the ceremony space as well.

I designed almost everything myself- signs, table names, etc. I’m big on http://www.picmonkey.com if you or family members are creative. I created table names and put them in Dollar Store frames and printed on regular paper.

Also, we bought Ikea white lanterns that I loved for maybe $7-8 a piece, plus a candle. We alternated which tables got lanterns versus florals.

You can do it…just find a starting point!

Find big pieces that make a statement versus a bunch of small pieces. This was our “exit” table with pom poms cause I didn’t want bubbles or sparklers (former wedding photographer and I hate them). Cheap frames with photos from our college.

Kinda hard to see the chandelier here but it was goreous and simple.

Let us know your theme and colors and people will give you ideas.

Ok, so I know this might seem too personal,  but do you mind saying what your decor and flower budget are? I spent about $500 on 520 flowers. I also bought lighting and tulle gor fabric draping and lights for another $500 and the vases for arouns $300. Our venue is going to only cost $250 for 4 days. If your budget is really low you will have to get creative and enlist the help of friends and family.

missmarchmommy :  I saw your colors, hot pink, royal blue, silver/pewter?  How many tables do you have?  Are the pewter/silver for tablecloths, blue for table runners? pink for napkins? Can you afford some blue hydrangeas and some pink spray roses, add a little greens and a small amount of baby’s breath, and/or greens and put them in DollarTree cylinder vases?  Does that work for you or is it too much $?

For the arch, if it’s brass colored, I would get silver/gray tulle, and add white Christmas lights. Add your table centerpieces, and use them for double duty.

missmarchmommy :  Sorry, I didn’t mean emails, I meant Private Messages.  I sent you some ideas.  How many guests and tables do you have?

Yes, if you are having silver/gray, bright/hot pink and royal blue for your table linens? I would spray paint the brass arch a silver or gray color.
