- Wedding: June 2012
So I am having a nautical wedding (navy & yellow are my main colors), and for months have LOVED the idea of suitcases as a card box. I also decided to double my suitcase as a holder for my guestbook — I have purchased vintage and new postcards of the beach I am getting married at.. and would like my guests to sign those, and then also put them in the suitcase!
I purchased my suitcases as a set from http://www.save-on-crafts.com/. I went to many thrift stores/antique shops, but couldn’t quite find what I was looking for there. Anyways, it was only $40 for both, but of course… 20 dollars for shipping! So $60 for both.. but I love them, so it was worth it. Here’s a photo:
It’s the burlap luggage set, and they are actually larger and deeper in person! Very nice.
Anyways.. I have been looking at other card boxes, things on pinterest.. and have had a few questions:
1.) How do I word it so that guests know they can place their cards, and sign the postcards and put them inside? And do I simply hang a card sign on the suitcase, or should I make a sign in a frame?
2.) How should I decorate the box? This has been a bit tough. The lady who is doing my flowers is also doing most of the decorating/”eventscaping” for my wedding. Again it is a nautical theme… natural materials.. and my colors are navy/yellow.
3.) Should I stack them on top of each other, and do it this way?
Anyways! Just wondered if any of you lovely ladies had any creative ideas. I’m not the best at this kind of stuff 🙂 Thanks so much!
