OK so Im basically the anti bride. I LOVE my fiance and cannot wait to marry him and spend the rest of my life with him… but honestly I dont care AT ALL about the wedding. I wanted to elope. He wanted family there. We settled on a small family only ceremony with about 13 people.
Our friend is the Mayor and will officiate and we are doing the ceremony at this lake by our house. There is a little pier and we want to stand there for the ceremony.
Id like a simple way to jazz it up that wouldnt require too much time/moving stuff. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe baloon bunches in soft colors? IDK.
Pardon the dreary photo, its Ohio lol

OOOOH! You can do like two long silk fabrics that drape on the side rails….or lights. Or have flower pots spaced out lined down the walkway (I love plants/flowers so I would actually use them after the ceremony)
and in the back do something small on the sides to center the two of you?
I feel you can go about it a lot of ways, and inexpensive, too. Nice placement!

I’m not sure how hard it would be to get an extension cord out there, but twinkle(fairy) lights would be really pretty.

I love your balloons idea! Maybe 6-8 bunches tied to the side bannisters and a bigger bunch at the end. Not sure if you can predict how windy it would be on the day of but balloons in the wind could be a mess, just something to consider. Fake flower garlands might look nice hung up in a scallop pattern. I think you can buy one for maybe like $20 at a craft store.

Tried to find a photo of what I’m imagining..not the soft colors you mentioned, but you can pick any garland you want and putting it up this way would be super easy to set up and take down.
I also love the green and bows here. Might look a little Christmasy, but if you did say pink or purple or yellow ribbons it’s a much more romantic look. Even just bows might work nicely too.

Though not as simple, this could be an option that’s very doable: artificial flowers on straw flower pots, a rug for the area you will be standing with your groom and officiant, chairs for your guests with clean lines and light color, and two stands flanking you with the same flowers and straw flower pots:

Wow, thank you! Great ideas. I like the potted plant idea. It will be sunny and green at the lake by the time its July.
Im bow girl, so thats definitely a look I like
Good point on the wind factor, that could make balloons a nightmare!
Thanks! Yea we will definitely DIY something simple. FH agrees we need to jazz it up but doesnt have much input on how. I think the potted plants and draped fabric could work!
There is a service shed (looks like a little blue and white cottage) right near the pier entrance so we should have electricity!
Love all the inspiration! Thanks and keep it coming 🙂

I love lanterns! Imagine various sizes of lanterns filled with flowers, with petals around them. Set up to go along the walkway. And ribbon, as someone suggested. Also, check the Dollar Tree for decor, good DIY stuff there.
And fabric to act as a runner for the walkway as well. Then move the lanterns to the reception to act as centerpieces!

I do like the lanterns too! I totally didnt think of the Dollar store but I remember reading they had good stuff for cheap so Ill definitely check them out

I’ve seen a few good blogs and Pinterest posts on Dollar Tree DIY. They have a wedding section which isnt bad.

You could also get solar powered light strands. That way you don’t have to worry about extension cords. Or do the smaller, battery operated twinkle lights and put them in lanterns, or another similiar type container.

My mom puts solar powered twinkle lights on our ramp to the boat dock at home, and it looks great! Not sure what time your ceremony is, though. If it’s early you probably won’t even see them!
I definietly suggest a couple of rugs. Maybe a runner down the aisle part and a more ornate one to stand on. And I LOVE the lantern idea! We actually found some gigantic, battery operated ones at Mendards for like $25 on sale and painted them navy, and then added greenery and flowers around the built in candle. I think if you did one of those on each side before you walk down, and then some smaller ones down the aisle part that would look great (we got our smaller ones at IKEA, but there are surely a lot on facebook marketplace in your area. They are really easy to paint)! Add in some greenery garland or whatever garland you want and some bows and there you go! You should be able to do it all for a decent price! And you can even do some lanterns at the end of the rows of seats, to tie it all in.
