How about DIY little chalk boards in front of each different cupcake selection? They can be really cute and inexpensive? But some chalk paint find a cute frame and give it heck 🙂 I think your cupcake station sounds FABULOUS!! I might steal this idea 🙂

@somerrae:  I make cupcakes for weddings! I make each icing flavor a different color, and put a grouping of one flavor with a “flavor card”. Your flavor card could explain exactly what each cupcake is, or just make reference to a number on the menu. I found this is the best way to differentiate cupcake flavors. 🙂

I’m planning on making a menu similar to yours and adding little flags for each cupcake to differentiate them. For us, this is a completely unnecessary DIY. However, I’ve decided it is cute and worth my time 🙂

I’m thinking of using different colors/pattens of paper/washi tape…

or adding words to the flags…

or going the heart route instead.

I have been wondering the same thing! I like the idea of the menu, and the chalkboards as dgplmr86 suggested.

You could have your baker make a small decoration to put on top of each cupcake that is different for each flavour.  And on the menu have a matching picture next to the flavour description.

Ours were decorated differently… I think I have a pic at work I can share tomorrow, but basically:

  • Vanilla buttercream with purple sprinkles
  • Cocoa buttercream with white sugar pearls
  • Vanilla butter cream with navy sugar pearls 
  • Brown buttercream with sugared peacock feathers

And we did a menu like yours, displayed on the table, to explain each.
