our reception is pretty casual and in a barn and outside. i am not sure how to do the drinks, any advice? would it be best to have cans and have them already iced in coolers? or have two liters sitting out with a big cooler of ice with scoops? any other ideas???

Are you talking about soda, beer?
You can fill up a barrel, wheelbarrow, old boat etc with ice and add cans of beer and soda or white wine.
You can use cold drink dispensers for lemonade, iced tea.
You can have a keg and make a wrap for it.

How about something like this:

@upallnight: since it seems like you’re talking about soda, have you thought about buying sodas in glass bottles. Then the buckets would work. Either clear or galvanized.
Another option. They sell these blow up cooler type things that allow for you to put ice in them and arrange drinks. Here’s one from oriental trading. They call it an inflatable buffet.

I like a combo what @les105: and @julies1949: posted. You could put bottled beverages in ice in a barrel and then have some drinks in pitchers with taps on them like les105 showed.

ohhh i loooove the wheelbarrow idea. that would be so easy and i think i could find them second hand for cheap. i looked at other containers and they were so dang pricy. this would work great for cans and chilled wines. thanks ladies…i tell ya, i am the least creative and most indecisive person around
