So I’ll be moving to Denver in a few weeks with my family and I will be in a smaller place with my parents and I have lots of clutter/items and my mom will want me to downsize. I have lots of books, games, decorations, DVDs but not as many and scrapbooking paper, and stuff animals/Bennie babies and I was wondering if you all have any suggestions on how to downsize stuff.

Decide which stuff is still important to you. Donate the rest or sell on craigslist. It’s amazing how much stuff we can accumulate.

If you haven’t used it in a year, donate or throw out.

Keep a handful of items that have a lot of sentimental value, sell/donate the rest of the *stuff*. Surely you dont need those books, games, decor, dvd, etc. If you are really attached to your DVD collection, rip them and watch them from a computer. Stuff animals? Time for them all to just go.
I had it easy when I moved out of my house, I just left almost everything there because I thought it was sentimental. It was 25 years of my stuff that I’d collected growing up. But after a while, I realize I dont miss any of it. Anything that I really wanted and meant anythign to me, I took with me. After a year, I went back and pretty much and tossed everything and it felt great! Even now in my new house, every few months I go through and declutter and toss stuff. It may be hard now, but I’m positive, you won’t miss any of the items you end up parting with.

I actually just got done getting rid of a bunch of stuff today. I ask myself, “Would I miss this if it were gone?” If no, it gets donated. If yes, then I ask myself, “C’mon, let’s get real. Would you even NOTICE if it were gone?”
