I’m still up in the air about my wedding colors (and need to decide soon!) I have liked the gray/charcoal/slate & yellow combos I’ve seen but I like charcoal bm dresses for my girls more than yellow ones.
If I pick charcoal bridesmaid dresses, is it ok to put the groomsmen/groom in black tuxes? I don’t know if I want to put them in gray too and then have the whole party be monochromatic.
Advice/opinions? I’m not set on anything so please speak openly!

We used grey bm dresses and black groomsmen tuxes with grey vests, and green pocket squares (our other colour). It never even occurred to me that black/grey wasn’t a good combo, but I’ve seen a couple posts in the last few days about it!

I had the same dilemma as you and we are actually going with yellow bridesmaids dresses and gray tuxedos. My fiance is dead set on wearing gray tuxedos! My bridesmaids actually preferred yellow dresses too. If the girls were going to wear gray then the guys were going to wear black. I hope that kind of helps 🙂 LOVE the color scheme and I can’t wait to put it all together in 9, hopefully short :), months!

@SapphireSun:Hey Sapphire, I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad combo either, but my groom is partial to gray tuxes / yellow bm dresses and I’d rather have the gray dresses / black tuxes b/c I’m afraid my girls will be washed out by the yellow.
Would love to see pics if you have any!!

@yllom10:LOL my fiance is also really set on the gray tuxes!!! What the heck! This is a guy who won’t even buy a t-shirt for himself, but suddenly he’s all about wedding fashion.
Maybe I’ll ask my girls what they prefer, gray or yellow. They might surprise me 🙂

I don’t think black tux’s would look bad with that color scheme. You could do a lighter gray suit to contrast a little with the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, but I think black would be good. I went with green Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses instead of gray because the guys are going to be wearing gray suits.

You could do contrasting grays. If the bridesmaids wore a darker gray, go with lighter gray tuxedos, or if bridemaids wear lighter gray, go with a darker gray tux. Men’s Wearhouse has a lighter gray tux and Louie’s Tux Shop has a charcoal gray tux. Hope it helps 🙂

Youe wedding party will look very elegant whether the men are in grey or black.
I would think that more women could wear a charcoal dress than yellow.
men in black
men in grey
It really does depend on the shade of grey you end up choosing. If it is light, then the men could be in charcoal for more contrast.

Ugh. I am also stuck with the same questions. I just recently changed my pallet from blue with a yellow accent to yellow and grey. I fear that if my bridesmaids were grey dresses AND the groomsmen wear grey tuxes that there will be too much grey. I have been thinking about having the Bridesmaid or Best Man wear yellow dresses and the men wear grey but then I start to wonder if the grey is as “classy” or “formal” as I think it should look.
Here is a picture of the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses I am planning on getting (convertible henkaa dresses) in grey. again, too much grey if the guys were wearing their jackets? dont you think it would look good if the girls were in yellow?
