I have a problem…. I have been searching for weeks for a red “fiesta” style dress to wear for a wedding shower. Unfortunately, every store I go in has ORANGE dresses. I bought a dress that fits perfectly with the theme, but I want to dye it red. It is 100% cotton…
Does anyone know how I should properly dye this dress?

Is the dress that you bought orange?? If so, you would have to bleach it first.
If it’s white, just buy a box of red dye and follow the directions, that’s how I dyed my white cotton curtains and they turned out gorgeous! I even followed directions for what dyes to mix to get a custom color. I don’t remember if the directions say to put in salt or not, but if they don’t, put in a 1/2 cup of salt in with the dye water. I think it makes the color stay more or be brighter; either way just do it. 🙂
Also, after you dye it, make sure you run an EMPTY wash with soap and all afterwards so your next load of laundry doesn’t get dyed….. learned that the hard way….

please read the link first. If you use hot water with the dye your dress will shrink.
