I would use glue dots or double sided tape if you can get the kind that pops up; you don’t want to be cutting off pieces!

Definitely glue dots. I use them on invitations all the time, just hide it in the back. Like the attached.

hot glue rocks my world, and its cheaper than buying 200 glue dots

I would also use clear glue dots or double-sided tape. Both will be less messy and more consistant than hot glue.

I personally would use hot glue cuz I heart it but glue dots would work very well.
