I need to find a good dentist in Boston, preferably near my work or home. It’s been on my to do list because I’m **incredibly** delayed on it, but I just realized a back tooth is chipped (probably a filing broke) so it’s much more urgent now. Beyond the fact that I’d like to have an estimate of work to be done to put away in my HSA thing. How do I find a dentist, beyond asking folks for recommendations, which hasn’t worked so far? Any websites that rate dentists or quality or anything?

Also, just google them. I steered clear of one dentist when I found a news story about his natcotics conviction.

@kerensa: I googled information to find a dentist I liked after we moved. Honestly, I googled one with good reviews, close to out house, and ended up very happy. She’s a newer graduate, working to build her practice. At first I was unsure, but she takes the time to get to know her patients and discusses all available options with them.
I’m one of those with a “try someone who sounds good, then decide whether or not to stick with them after the initial appointment” approach. Worked well with my new eye doctor and dentist 🙂

If you have insurance, check to see who they cover. Then start looking at reviews of the list (Yelp is a good place to start, like julies1949 suggested).
