I was just wondering…I have yet to pick a bridesmaid dress but thought I should go ahead and start getting my bridesmaids’ measurements. They are all out of town and only my maid of honor will be getting her measurements done at the store that we will be ordering all of them from (I want them to be from the same dye lot etc) So how do I go about getting their measurements? Do they measure themselves or can they just pop into a store without buying anything and they will take measurements willingly for them? Im not sure how that works….
Thanks for your help in advance!

Ask your bridesmaids to go to a tailor or drycleaner and have their measurements taken, then email them to you. I had one bridesmaid who was unable to do this (she was snowed in apparently) and had a friend take them instead, and they were way, way off. Her dress came in many sizes too large for her. Fortunately the alterations were able to fix it up just fine! But yeah a pro is a good idea here.

I’d pick the dress before they get measured. On some dresses the measurements make a difference. Also, don’t let them measure themselves! Most bridal shops will measure them and shouldn’t charge anything. If they measure themselves they are at an odd angle and it may not come out correctly.

They can go to a seamstress or some shops to be measured. If you are going to a chain store like David’s, they should be willing to measure them at their location and then give her a card to give to you.

@ILuvDance17: i wanted to get a headstart because i am so indecisive…their meaurements wont change…just the size will depending on the dress i choose right? so if i get their measurements then I can put them into a size category whenever I end up choosing the dress…does that make sense? I will def not have them take their own measurements then…I will have them go to a dress shop or something. I just dont want them to get attitude because they arent purchasing anything!
