Whatever concoction you make, make sure you’re well ventilated! I actually know someone who died while cleaning because they mixed cleaning products and it created toxic fumes. I get so worried with stuff like this!

You’re right on BKF, I read the can and it lists all sorts of uses that I didn’t know about, safe for tile, etc. I don’t know what is in magic eraser I had kinda assumed that it was something powerful and that’s why they only sold it in pre loaded sponges, in order to control it. But that was just something I made up in my head while my mind wandered during cleaning haha I am not familiar with bon ami but if it’s the same stuff as magic eraser I have to get some. The magic eraser sponges shred too easily, I’ve gone through 9 of them between yesterday and today. I want the potion that’s in it to use with my own cleaning rag/scrubber.
Just finished scrubbing the dickens out of the floor with bar keepers friend. I rinsed & dried it three times but the grout still has quite a white film on it. I’m sure it’s super porous being 70 years old. The tiles look brighter overall, but I think that might be a film too lol. I’m satisfied for now just because I KNOW I cleaned the $hit out of it even if it doesn’t look like it. Peace of mind is what really matters I guess.

Wow, that’s amazing that yours came out looking like new! I just finished scrubbing it and took a closer look at individual tiles and rubbed them with my finger and realized a lot of the dirt/crud were actually chips and cracks in the tile itself. Other discolorations have no perceptible gunk on it, they feel smooth, so I don’t know what that’s all about. I’ve given it my all for this spring but I copied your Phosphoric Acid instructions and emailed them to myself for fall cleaning.

it’s called dura ceramic. I guess it is tiles but they are huge, and we picked a style that didn’t need grout. So easy to clean!!

soontobemrstee : Gross how dirty is your house? Did your mom not teach you how to clean a house? You have to go online and ask? She said you should call her by the way. How poor are you? I really am curious.
Gross. How nasty is your soul? Did your mom teach you to behave like an animal? Are you so entitled that you’re still pissed about your photographer? Are you so self centered that you need to say nasty sh*t on the internet because people didn’t like your post? You should call your mom and ask why she taught you to behave like a disgusting, foul beast. How old are you? I really am curious? FFS, you seem really unhappy with your life. Seek therapy.

Please excuse soontobemrstee – she’s just projecting because the grout in her troll hole under the bridge is even more impossible to clean than the grout in a 1940’s bathroom.
I’m in a similar boat with the ancient bathroom in our (new to us) house. The bathroom was last redone in the 1930’s, and despite everything, floor included, being white, it looks dirty no matter what we do just because it’s so damn old. We plan to guy and renovate it, but until then I’m totally trying some of the suggestions in this thread from four months ago.

Did you ever find a solution that worked? We have a similar problem and it drives me nuts!
