Mine started steaming and grinding on the highway, and I pulled over and had it towed.  They called me to say it wasn’t worth fixing and they’d take it off my hands for scrap in lieu of me paying the tow bill and I never saw it again!

I then had a bus pass, so no new shiny car to get over my loss 🙁

Take it on a joy ride!! Go swing by your old high school and your old hangouts… Bring your girlfriends with you and reminisce… get freaky with your Darling Husband in the back. Lol! I was excited to get my new car but it was bittersweet for sure!

@SapphireSun:  I don’t remember ever going back, but I lived with my parents at that point, so maybe one of them did it??

My best friend was the first of us to turn 16 and have her own car, so we went everywhere in her 1980 Escort, and ended up getting in a (not her fault) fairly serious and scary accident that the car was totalled, but me and all three of my friends in it at the time and the other driver walked away without a scratch.  She stole the little centrecaps off the wheels and we each hung one from our own rearview mirrors for a while as a good luck charm/reminder to drive carefully.

Maybe there’s a little part you can lift from your car as a keepsake if it’s just going to the scrapper if you’re feeling sentimental?  Like the hood ornament or something?
