I went with both my mom & Maid/Matron of Honor and we all had a fun time, they have met before several times, so it wasn’t an awkward first meeting or anything. Surprisingly enough, it was usually the two of them who agreed on favorite dresses, and I was the dissenting view!

I also took a couple trips just with MOH/bridesmaids. It was nice to take a few trips with a # of different ppl, to get everyone involved, and to get different points of view.

I went with my mom the first time, then back to re-try dresses with my sister (MOH).  When you do go, don’t freak out like I did about dress sizes!  My pants are an 8 and my dress is a 16!  Just know that ahead of time!!  it doesn’t always happen, but just be prepared!  Oh, and bring a camera…I forgot that the first time!

Go with someone who’s judgement you trust and who knows you and your plans for the wedding well.  If you want to involve your mother or Maid/Matron of Honor don’t order the dress the first time you find but bring your mom or anyone else you think should be there to see you in it before buying.  It’s the easiest way to keep from being railroaded.

I went with my mom and dad for the first few appointments, and then my dad got bored, and it was just my mom and me.

I went with one of my best girlfriends the first time because I was seriously freaked out… You can find my old posts as evidence!  But, we’re all busy people and there were so many varying opinions, that I finally opted to take one person each time I went (and boy, I went shopping a LOT!).  Sometimes I even went by myself… and you know what, the clarity of being on your own is kind of nice.

Ultimately I would have known my dress was the right dress, if I had been alone, with family or with a trained monkey.  It was that obvious!

I went with my mom and Maid/Matron of Honor who is my sister…But I knew they both know my taste, while still able to contribute their opinions. Turned out I knew the right dress when it was on, but I loved having their support and assurance.

I went once with a Bridesmaid or Best Man, merely to "play" after a wedding show. I went another time with my mom (my sister/MOH was supposed to come, but had to work at the last minute).  I think my mom really enjoyed it just being us (though it would have been just fine if sister was there as well).  We went to one shop and were done in only a few hours; we spent the rest of the day shopping and enjoying each other’s company.

I went with my parents, Future Mother-In-Law, and my 6 bridesmaids!  Definately a big party, but I enjoyed all their thoughts!
