Our groomsmen range in size from stick to muscular to quite round. We wanted to do light gray pants and vests with the groom in matching pants and a suit jacket, but we’re having a really hard time finding a store that caters to such a wide variety of sizes while still being reasonably priced. We’ve looked at renting tuxes, but the only option (JoS A. Bank and Mens Wearhouse have nearly identical gray tuxes) is kind of tacky. We’ve also considered black, but our wedding is outdoors in the summer and I don’t want to do that to everyone. I’m sure some of you have dealt with this and I’m just kind of resigned to everyone not matching (which isn’t something I like the look of).

what about going to the suit section at jcpenny or macys? They have an assortment of sizes and you could put together a 3 piece suit or something since it’s summer.

The groomsman that is going to be trickiest wears pants size 50 and doesn’t know his jacket size, but presumably in the same range. The trouble is finding something for him that will match everyone else.

That’s an easy challenge. The groom doesn’t have to match everyone else. Just get the groom a suit that looks good on him and is a diiferent shade of grey than the groomsmen so it looks intentional.

@julies1949: That picture is almost exactly the plan we have (even as far as the groomsmen in vests rather than jackets because of the warm weather we want to have in May), but the groom isn’t the one with the size issue. We have three groomsmen who are fit and one who is not and that’s where the trouble with matching comes in.

is there a big and tall store> i think thats the name of the one we have in our town.. if u have that store go with the biggest groomsman see if they have anything that could be part of ur vision and then take that suit to another store to find the other guys suits

@abarber3: Sorry, I misread you post. I’m sure your groomsman will appreciate your efforts to find something that will work for him, as well as the rest of the men.
Department stores sometimes carry regular and big ‘n tall sizes.
Overstock has this vest:
They also have pants that come in a wide range of sizes
I’m not suggesting these would be perfect together but the vest and pants don’t necessarily have to match as long as they coordinate.
I know you said that you’re not fond of the mismatched look, but even if they all had the same vests and bought different grey pants, it would look nice.

We are having to go with custom our groomsmen range from a 28 to a 58. Its actually not that much more expensive to order the perfect suit from http://www.studiosuits.com and they will do that range in size with little extra cost to the larger sizes.
