I didn’t use a calligrapher but I did have dark coloured envelopes I ordered a return address stamp from etsy and used it with White ink you just have to make sure the ink you use will show up on dark paper (I used Stampin Up) I also used it for my return address envelopes it was a big time saver

I agree. I would get a stamp and some white ink. Look online for a good white ink pad – I looked at some recommendations and then got mine at Honby Lobby but it saved me buying a few and trying them out. The one I got (I forget which) was a good really opaque white. please don’t out labels on beautiful hand calligraphed envelopes.

You can put the return address on the back side of the envelope. all the way at the top of the flap. (If you put it in the middle of the envelope there’s a chance the invitation could go the wrong way through the machine and it will read that as an address if it’s centered – or at least that’s what I was told)

Caitlinmax:  We used a calligrapher and a stamp for the return addresses in a similar font. You can find a great selection on Etsy. Our envelopes were a metallic silver, so not as dark as yours, but with custom stamps you can pick the color ink that you want. I would go with white, so that it matches the calligraphy on the front of the envelope. That sounds beautiful, by the way!

we have dark metallic gray envelopes and i used a return address stamp bought from etsy, with gold metallic ink and i embossed them with gold powder. they really stood out and looked great. they took a ton of time, and if you’re having someone do calligraphy for the envelopes you run the risk of ruining the envelope should your stamp not work (i ruined about 5 or 6) so definitely practice beforehand!

I agree with a stamp and white ink for the return address.  You could do the return addresses before sending them for calligraphy so as not to mess them up after they have been addressed.
