Next year my fiance and I plan to get married in April 2013. Our style is not extravagant, we’re more down to earth and simple. We view the wedding and family coming together to celebrate as the main focus of our wedding. I’m looking for ideas to have an affordable down to earth wedding, including ideas for reception ideas. I have my wedding dress which is a Maggie Sottero Grace Kelly style, I’m looking at a pansy bouqet, and thats pretty much it so far. I’m making metallic folding invites, and we plan on having a bbq engagement party for our family and friends. Any advise would be helpful! Thanks

You have come to the right place – There are TONS of affordable/budget weddings and ideas. I think recaps (budget breakdown ones) is a particularly helpful way of finding things in a bulk area. I also suggest just typing it into WeddingBee search (on the right) and just start sifting through them. I posted one called “Budget Brides – Care to share your knowledge?” It was posted almost a year ago and is FULL of amazing ideas. Good luck and welcome. 🙂

I had a $2,000 wedding. It was very down-to-earth.
I posted a budget breakdown that was called like, “our $2k budget breakdown.”
-Find a reception venue in a small town near where you live, it was a ton cheaper for us.
-Scour the stores for deals on anything you would pick up at a store. Try not to pay retail price.
-Keep your guestlist down
-DIY (weddingbee has a great section of ideas)
