My fiance and I are jokers and we want to have a fun, personal and fabulous wedding while being money minded.
Do you ladies have any tips on how you’re making your wedding guests laugh (for little-to-no-cost?
While planning for my own day, I wrote this budget conscious article for my local newspaper (in case it’s helpful to anyone).
How to plan an amazing, affordable wedding
So inexpensive things I’m already doing “for fun”:
I’m Chinese, so I’m going to hand-make glittery paper fortune cookies with funny messages or my favourite famous quotes. Also, instead of flowers, my bridesmaid or flower girl is going to carry a sign that says: “This is your last chance to run!!!”

If you’re having an outdoor wedding, I think lawn games are a really good way to have some fun during the coctail hour. Between us and our friends, we have a bunch of homemade sets of cornhole and monkey nuts (ladder golf), so we’ll have all of those set out and do a tournament. My Fiance also wants to have a tricycle jousting tournament, which is ridiculous. But we’re not trying to impress anyone and if that what he wants, he is welcome to organize it – goofball.
Our good friends got married a few years ago and rented a bounce house for pretty cheap (a few hundred dollars?). It was “for the kids” but ended up with all the wedding guests in there – super fun.
I like your ideas, except I’m really not a fan of the “run” sign. It’s something that’s usually good for a joke, but I think it’s just a little disrespectful to joke about literally 1 minute before you get married. Each to their own though, I’d probably laugh if I was a guest 🙂

@lolot: Tricycle jousting tournament!!! Amazing!
Re. good point about the sign. Come to think of it, our parents might be a little upset with that idea…
