Currently my fiance and I are building a house. The goal is for it to be done next year and then get married in the backyard. Has anyone had a backyard wedding of their own that they can offer some tips on how to do it right? Or if you’ve attended one and have ideas on what was awesome or not so awesome.
Things you wouldn’t do again? Ideas? Experiences? Etc. Any and all thoughts are appreciated! Thank you!

Fiance were in the process of planning our I Do BBQ before we said f-it and decided to elope instead
we had an amazing band lined up, BBQ food, a bloody mary bar, lawn games, and photo booth before we decided to scrap the whole thing lol
I would add: since it is a more informal environment since a hall/ballroom wedding you can get away with more entertainment like lawn games etc. gives guests the option to do something other than dance

been to a couple. first of all: consider your season. have heaters/bonfire in the winter, and be prepared with fans and cold drinks in the summer. also, consider bug spray, and bathrooms. one we went to rented a couple of porta-potty trailer (ti was very swank), while the other relied on the single bathroom inside the house for all 100+ guests.
the best elements: one wedding (late september in the south) had us sit on mexican blankets for the ceremony (the blankets were our favor), then move to picnic tables under a tent for the reception.
another had paid a company to come out and string xmas lights everyhere in the yard, it was magical. a big yard meant that guests were able to mill about and mingle, which was really nice.
