I know a lot of people here aren’t fond of unique spellings of names, but I think this situation is special 🙂  I am so sorry for your loss!

You could use her maiden name.

0o0o I actually like the name Maeson.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how hard that must have been for you.

Best of luck with everything 🙂

Magnum or Maedoc

I’m so sorry that you’re going through all of this. It hasn’t been easy for you.

Mason is a terrific idea!

Magnus.. but not very popular here in the US.. I do like the name though.. but I might have an adversion to really odd names..

I will keep thinking and post a better one when I think of it.

I am so sorry for your loss, especially during this difficult yet joyful time for you. It is fantastic that you wish to honor your mother with the name of your son!

Her maiden name? Or a family name from her side that is masculine. I did think Mark first though when I read Maggie. Margaret/Mark.

My heart goes out to you though, this must be an awfully emotionally turmoil filled time. My BFF had a similar situation and I can never even pretend to imagine what it feels like. May her spirit be close to you.

I also like the maiden name idea… and Maeson is cute too!

FYi the same exact thing happened to my mom when she was 6 months pregnant with me.  I can’t even begin to imagine how devastating that must have been.  Even though I was never able to meet my grandma I still love hearing about her, and she holds a special place in my heart.  I’m sure the same will be true of your son.

Mason, Magnus?

Did you know that Maggie comes from Margaret, the patron saint of expectant mothers? I just thought that was a sweet connection.

On one of my favorite movies there’s a guy named Macon. You could do Maecon but I also like the name Maeson!

Maggie means Pearl, the only name I found that is considered a boy’s name or unisex name for that meaning is Magan.

What was her maiden name? Maybe you could use it if possible or find a name with the same meaning. Or if you can’t find a name you love that relates to Maggie or Mae, you could always just give him the same initials as her. You can always use Maggie or Mae if you ever have a daughter.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I can’t even imagine what you’re going through.  I also like the suggestions above, the first thing I thought was Maeson.  If you find that you aren’t really thinking they’re a fit for you, what about trying to think of things your mom loved, or places she has close ties with?  ie) Denver, if she were to have roots there…  Much love to you!

I should also add that my middle name is a tribute to my grandmother (who passed away while my mother was pregnant) Her name was Margot Lanae (foreign, obviously) and my middle name is Lanae. I love it because there is so much meaning… which ever name you pick I’m sure he will value because of its meaning.

Love Macon, too!
