We have 5 babies that will be born before our wedding, but aren’t going to be born by the time the invites go out. They are invited (and I reflected this on the RSVP card), but how do I address the envelope? We are doing outer envelopes only.
The style of addresses we are going to use is:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
John, Mary, and Sue
3000 Wilson Boulevard

I invited my niece (who was born 3 weeks before the wedding, and was our “flower girl”!) by name, but that’s because I knew her name. So I did:
Mike and Amanda Smith
Emma, Stella, and Poppy

I would say Mr. and Mrs. Smith and baby

Of all the options you’ve listed, I’d say that The Smith Family… would be the least controversal.
It reads as an “all inclusive” invite if there is just John & Mary… and if Baby Sue comes along in the interim, understood that she is invited as well.
Hope this helps,
EDIT TO ADD – The problem with the other 2 are as follows.
Mr & Mrs Smith doesn’t let them know that you are ok with the newborn coming.
Mr & Mrs Smith & Baby… would be tough to take if god-forbid something goes wrong !! And so from an Etiquette Point of View would be a HUGE Faux Pas in that it would possibly serve to make your Guests feel bad.

@This Time Round: This is exactly what I am worried of. Three of the babies are the first children of parents who tried awhile. The second two have older siblings. And all of them are on FI’s side, so I am trying to do this correctly because I don’t know them well enough to say “if you’re up for coming, bring the baby! We would love to see him/her!”

I voted Mr., Mrs., and Baby Smith… I think “The Smith Family” leaves too much room for interpretation and potential extra guests.

I’ve put: (e.g.) Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Bump. I thought it was cute lol

Mr & Mrs Smith
I figured it specifies that there are 3 people, and includes the new baby.

I like “The Smith Family”!

Any suggestions for the nightime bees? I don’t want to think that the baby isn’t invited (they will be 2-4 weeks old, that would be unreasonable) and it is something we weren’t expecting. A good surprise, yes… but man there are a lot of babies born this year!
