Hey, Bees! CaitlinMarae’s thread got me thinking about everything that goes into a shower. I’m hosting one for a friend, and I’ve budgeted about $100 for it.
Most of that will be food and non-alcoholic beverages since I plan on making the decorations myself using all of my and my mom’s scrapbooking supplies. Another way I’m trying to keep it down is by using flowers from our garden for centerpieces with vases we already own.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to keep costs down?

You can do a tea party or mimosa party so that you only need to do snacks instead of a full meal?

Get outside help! I bet a bunch of the ladies invited would be happy to bring their signature dish or help with the decorations. And honestly, I think it makes the bride feel extra showered with love when she sees the effort that a bunch of friends and family put into it.

Don’t get carried away by what you see online!
For decades women have had showers in their homes with no theme, no color scheme, no favors, no expensive floral arrangements, etc etc and had a great time.

Appetizer or Dessert contest! Ask everyone to bring a app or dessert, enough for all guests, and then have a vote. Who ever wins gets a bottle of wine or something and it will be cheaper than you doing it yourself.

@jo.lee: we did that dessert contest once and asked everyone to bring the recipe along and then as the favor sent a small recipe book with them all in it to each person as the thank you
