I just bought a gorgeous dress online for a steal. I attempted to try it on last night, but I have no idea the proper way to lace a corset and it’s hard to tell the exact fit without doing it up. Does anyone know how and could offer some advice? I don’t live near any family or close friends (I’m super self concious trying on clothes in front of others) except my other half so I’m at a loss for resources so I’m hoping someone out there can help.
Thanks so much!!!

So my wedding dress was a corset back (with panel). I (obviously) didnt’ do it up myself, but I can tell you what I believe my girls were doing. (NOTE: my panel had a hook and eye clasp, but the sales girl said not to hook that up at the begninning because it would screw up your tightness) You lace it up starting at the top so the bow will be at the bottom. Once you have it laced up loosely, start tightening the laces pull OUT towards you NOT to the sides – you could tear the loops out. (SKIP THE FIRST LOOPS the first time you tighten). Do not try to tighten it all the way the first time down. It took my girls about 5 times of tightening to get it tight enough. Make sure that you can breath, but you will need it to be tighter than you initially think because once you start walking around the lacing will loosen and your dress will slip down. Oh – and make sure your panel is straight if you have one – my Maid/Matron of Honor had to reach right up the back of my dress to set it straight.
Hope that helps! If it’s confusing let me know and I will try to explain better!

If you wanted add security, I would recommend also using double sided dress tape to go around the inside top of the dress 9not around the back, but like on the sides and front to make sure the dress stay up).
